"You Guys Drink A lot of Coffee..."

observed, Bonnie, one of the girls who lives with us.

Ummm, yes. Yes I do drink a lot of coffee. There's just no choice in the matter anymore. I've grown up, I am an adult now. A mama of three boys, a homeschooler, and a ridiculous woman who's always working on something.... I NEED coffee.

I also need sleep. But we all need something...right?

Snow, Idol, and Oh, My Goodness, I'm going to Gag!!!

In the rarest of occasions, here in North Carolina, it snowed. Yes, it snowed, all of 1 inch. Then it rained. But because of the great snow fall, classes and work were cancelled for my husband and the girls.

The lovely white precipitation couldn't have happened on a better day, as I was knocked out on the couch with an ugly cold. I tried my hardest to home school, getting only half way through. And then CJ put a video on for the kids as I slept on the couch. Ugh...

Of course, the cold had arrived the day before. And the night before that I was encouraged by housemate R, to join her in an all American past time. My point is, that for three nights in a row, I 've sat on my butt, accomplishing absolutely nothing, watching tv.

All I can say is, American Idol. Yep, and in classic Melissa style Oh. My. Word.

How about the guy who dressed up in the "i dream of genie" outfit and then after being encouraged into it, had his chest hair waxed off!!! Or the woman, who lived in the one room apartment with her mother, that went ballistic, when she didn't make it to "Hollywood." Umm, can anyone say DELIVERANCE???

I seriously did feel bad for Princess Laya. She really couldn't sing, but oh, did my heart feel bad for her self esteem issue. Of course, everyone is talking about the Asian guy who dressed as an angel serenading Simon, with his "Brothers" song. Literally, I laughed and coughed my way through that one.

But for all those out there, that know the true me.... you won't be surprised when you here that I gagged to the point of almost throwing up, when the Louisiana dude pulled out his collection of finger nails. I can feel the ball of nausea rising up in my throat as I write this. Tears ran down my face, as he continued on. I couldn't even listen and HAD to leave the room. Shock of shockers, I believe the dude made it to "Hollywood." Perhaps, he'll wow us with another collection during the tryouts there.

All in all, I am beginning to feel better. Of course, my house is a mess, I'm a day behind in schooling, and my energy is not quite up to par. I'm seriously considering a "fast" from the tv, because I'm finding myself drawn to wondering when the next auditions for American Idol are.

Maybe someone will have toe nail clippers, crazy chipmunks, or a biblical costume....

Still with Me?

I am a week behind blogging. And boy oh boy, do I have some neat stories to share with you.

But, tonight I caught up on my email, wrote our bi monthly newsletter, and worked on some pictures. I am hoping to catch up on my blogging in the next day or two!

In the meantime here are some fun numbers for you:

Number of turkeys we had on Thanksgiving Day - 2
Number of people who crossed our threshold on turkey day - 40
the height of our christmas tree this year - 9 1/2 feet
how many times I cried in August Rush - 1 - but really hard
number of days that Thrills and her family were here - 4
the number of times I will be driving to the airport in the next 6 weeks - 7
number of days Z man has gone on the potty - 2

That should update you a bit!

Randomness for the Last Thursday of the Summer - Hallelujah!

Here's a random post for you....complete with pictures and all.

First - did you all get the memo that says Fall is arriving this weekend??? HALLELUJAH!!! Thank You Jesus! Bring on the cooler weather, for everyones sake...but please for the sake of my head!

Moving on.... I f.i.n.a.l.l.y (and I say that long and drawn out) completed my latest sewing task. I give you... my sweet lookin' apron....

Girls - can I tell you that first, pictures do not do this justice. I just can't capture the sweetness of it with the lens. Nor can I capture the time, ironing, effort, ironing, patience and did I say ironing? that went into this little treasure. Good golly I think I did more ironing then sewing.

Of course, I did not forget you, Say Anything. I am starting on yours next. It was meant to be a birthday present (this past August) but I am thinking it may end up being a Christmas present, at this rate! At least your loved!

Next... soccer.

EJ scored his first goal last week during his game. Let's see, the coach positioned him right in front of the goal. His team mate stood on the side line and threw the ball in. It bounced right off of his shin guard and into the goal. Hmmm.... not bad for his first goal ever, eh? LOL!

The same night I finished the apron, I worked on this little baby. I, very seriously, decided to hole myself up in the spare bedroom with my sewing machine, worship music, a huge glass of water and a brownie. I came out with the apron, my mind a little less heavier, and this to go on top of my piano.

This is what it actually looks like on top of my piano....
Finally... here is a lifetime achievement for me.... I am deathly afraid of reptiles, particularly of those long, skinny, slithery types. You know the kind that deceived Eve in the garden....

But, a mom is a mom, and if she doesn't want to pass that fear onto her children she will go to most lengths. Including .....

touching a lizard! Now before you congratulate me... I will confess that this is NOT me holding this little lizard. It is me certainly taking all kinds of pictures of it though. Housemate, K, is the one who hounded it down and held it for all of us to ummmm... play with?!!!

EJ and Z found it fascinating to hold it, let it climb on them, watch it breathe, etc. I, on the other hand, mustered up every piece of mommy hood in me to show them that we should touch them and learn about them, of course by demonstration, right? Yup!

Well, that is about it for this lovely Thursday! Hope you enjoyed my randomness!
